Hydrapak – 1L Stash Bottle

Friday, October 30th, 2015

IMG_4362

Hydrapak’s Stash Bottle is a collapsible, soft-walled bottle, which compresses from its full size to a compact 4 in., perfect for storing in a pack or even a pocket for future use. The top and bottom of the Stash Bottle snap securely together when not in use; the top can be squeezed to produce enough give when sealed to reopen the bottle. The Stash also comes with a molded carry handle which can be removed from the lid at the user’s discretion.

Here’s a gallery which shows the Stash Bottle from full to compact. To store the bottle, the user twists the body of the Stash Bottle, then presses the top and bottom together, and secures them together using the snap closure.

Hydrapak also produced a short video showing how the Stash Bottle functions:

The Stash Bottle is available in Blue, Lime, and Smoke colors, in 750 mL and 1 L sizes.

Gun Myths With Jerry Miculek – Terminator Model 1887 Spin Cock

Friday, October 30th, 2015

Champion Shooter Jerry Miculek tests out spin cocking the Model 1887 lever-action shotgun on a live range, as seen in Terminator 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. He also manages to throw a Back to the Future reference into the intro sequence.

Fallout – Nuka Cola Quantum

Friday, October 30th, 2015

Nuka Cola Quantum

Last week, I wrote that the UK is getting an exclusive licensed Fallout beer. Well, the US isn’t being completely left out of the exclusive beverage game, because US Target stores will be exclusively carrying Nuka Cola Quantum starting November 10th, the day Fallout 4 launches. One character in Fallout 3 described Nuka Cola Quantum as “Drinking a Nuka-Cola, then downing a fistful of sugar, and punching yourself in the head.”, which given this is actually a repackaged Jones Soda Blue Lemonade flavor, might not be an inaccurate statement.

Trailers are supposed to make games look cool, so take it with a grain of salt, but to be fair it does look pretty darn cool. Plus, a playable Emperor Palpatine.

Air Venturi Announces Revolutionary New Smart Shot BBs Copper Plated Lead BBs Safe For Action Shooting

Tuesday, October 27th, 2015

Air Venturi BBs

Cleveland, Ohio (October 27, 2015) – Air Venturi, an exclusive airgun, airsoft and ammunition importer of leading international airgun brands, astonishes airgunners with news of the first notable BB safety innovation in nearly 100 years. The groundbreaking new Smart Shot BBs feature a double coating of copper plating surrounding heavyweight, lead shot. Since resistance to ricochet is exceptional with the new Smart Shot BBs, many safe options for various types of hard targets and shooting disciplines are now available to shooters.

According to Paul Milkovich, Air Venturi’s director of business development, “A new world of shooting opportunities are unlocked with Smart Shot BBs due to the safety enhancements of their greatly reduced ricochet properties. Bounce back from steel targets is markedly less because these BBs flatten out and drop to the ground rather than rebounding like steel BBs.”

Smart Shot BBs undergo the copper plating process two times. That extra step provides enough rigidity to prevent deformation of lead in the magazine and gun barrel, but still allows the softer BB to compress on impact. “A flat BB means less ricochet, less worries and a safer shooting environment for you,” says Milkovich. “Since the Smart Shot BBs keep their shape so well, they’re a better choice for spring-loaded BB magazines. And even though they’re heavier than steel BBs they’re the exact same diameter at 4.35mm.”

Another advantage of Smart Shot BBs is their distance and power; especially when shot from pneumatic or CO2 powered guns. “These BBs hit harder because the lightweight steel of traditional BBs has been replaced with much heavier lead,” Milkovich stated. They also have less friction and remain clean from oxidation during handling and storage because of their copper plating. “All of these features make Smart Shot BBs a superb option for gallery rifles and indoor shooting ranges,” he said.

What does that mean for the casual plinker or target shooter? “You know the BB gun in your closet collecting dust because you can’t shoot it in your basement or backyard for fear of ricochet? Well now you can enjoy it again with Smart Shot BBs,” he says. “It’s been about 95 years since mass-produced lead BBs offered people the option of using BB guns to shoot at hard surfaces like a steel target. Now airgunners can worry less about ricochet and cleanliness and simply spend more time shooting. You may even consider something as exciting as competing in Cowboy Action Shooting with a BB handgun or rifle,” says Milkovich. “Choose the heavyweight Smart Shot BBs and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by their performance, penetration and low ricochet. Just remember that you and everyone around you should always wear eye protection during any shooting activities.”

Model PPK

Elastic Precision is a company that makes some of the absolute slickest looking rubber band guns I’ve ever seen. Although they offer a great looking 1911, and an equally cool MP5, in honor of the upcoming Spectre, I’d figure the PPK would be the most appropriate product to feature.

Features

-Modeled after the classic Walther PPK handgun
-Made from solid Wood (Available in White Oak and in Walnut)
-Semi-automatically fires 5 rubber bands at up to 20 feet
-Comes with 50 rubber bands

Battlbox – October Unboxing

Wednesday, October 21st, 2015

IMG_4346

Battlbox is another contender in the somewhat recent trend of monthly subscription boxes. As stated on the packaging, Battlbox offers “survival & tactical gear”, such as paracord, knives, water purification, packs, compasses, etc.

IMG_4347

For October, Battlbox opted to make a ‘Halloween-themed’ box, which when paired with anything remotely “tactical” means zombies, zombies, and more zombies, and for the most part this box delivers in that regard. Again, it’s full of cushioning straw, so if you get your own box, be sure to open it somewhere you don’t mind getting a bit messy.

IMG_4348

Battlbox works on a tier system. Customers are free to pay one of four flat fees per month to receive the appropriate level box. The tiers are: Basic, Advanced, Pro, and Pro Plus-KOTM (Knife of the Month). We sprung for the highest tier, Pro Plus-KOTM, to see everything that could be offered within a box. Included with the October box, within the appropriate tier levels, is:

Basic

  • Zombie Tinder Cascades Fire Starting Kit
  • Zombie Paracord Bead by Barrett Custom Knives
  • Zombie Survival Sardine Can
  • Zombie Hunter PVC Morale Patch
  • Zombie Outbreak Response Team Patch
  • Zombie Survival Drink
  • Advanced

  • Zombie Paracord Knife
  • Wazoo Survival Gear DIY Zombie Paracord Bracelet
  • Zombie Paracord x 100 Ft
  • IMG_4349

    Pro

  • SOG Survival Hawk
  • Zombie Target 24″ x 36″ Poster Special Edition
  • Pro+KOTM

  • MoraKniv Bushcraft Survival Knife
  • All in all, not a bad box. The MoraKniv is definitely the highlight item, although the SOG Survival Hawk isn’t bad, either, and the paracord and associated survival materials are still functional, even if they are zombie themed.

    IMG_4350

Also, for those curious about the energy drink, it seems to be faintly berry-flavored. Not bad.

Dumpbox – Back To The Future Morale Patches

Dump Box Back To The Future

Today is ‘Back to the Future’ Day, or the day that Marty and Doc traveled to the future in BttF 2. In celebration, Dumpbox has released some new BttF-themed patches. Personally, I’m partial to the “Eat Lead, Slacker” patch, but the hoverboards are pretty cool as well.

    Venture Bros. Season 6 Trailer

    Tuesday, October 20th, 2015

With Venture Bros. Season 6 slated for an early February 2016 release, a trailer for the upcoming season has surfaced on the interwebs. The Venture family is moving to New York to take over Jonas Venture Jr.’s company after his untimely death, and it also looks like there’s going to be a lot more parodies of Marvel properties, especially considering the greater focus on Spider-Man expy Brown Widow, and the seemingly crossdressing Captain America expy as well.

In any case, I can’t wait!

    Adventure Force – Detonator

    Tuesday, October 20th, 2015

    IMG_4341

The Adventure Force ‘Detonator’ (The Rifle of Detonating – says it right on the package) is a thin, foam toy rifle that makes automatic fire sounds when you pull the trigger. If Minecraft had a rifle, it’d look exactly like this. Might be a good option for general play, or accompanying a child’s Halloween costume if they’re dressed up as a Soldier.

    IMG_4345

Adventure Force doesn’t have their own website, but you can typically find their products at either Wal-Mart, or on Amazon.

    Receiver

    Sunday, October 18th, 2015

Receiver is a game by Wolfire Games that was created for the “…7-day FPS challenge to explore gun handling mechanics, randomized levels, and unordered storytelling.” Most First Person Shooters, and video games in general, simplify and automate the process of loading and operating a firearm to make the experience more enjoyable for the player. Receiver, on the other hand, randomly assigns the player one of three handguns, and requires they be treated exactly like they would in real life: players have to manipulate the safety, pull back the slide to check if there’s a round in the chamber, and even have to check the magazine to see their round count.

    Zombie Tinder

Yeah, I know, zombies. To be fair, though these do look like a pretty good bit of tinder to bring with you on any outdoor excursions or for an emergency kit:

    – Waterproof
    – Non-toxic
    – All weather fire
    – Never expires
    – 1600 ºF burn temperature

Plus, they look like eyeballs, and they’re made by hand in the USA.
