Leading Global Innovator of Purpose-Built Gear Has Produced A Custom Content Video Series Alongside Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint Involvement

Irvine, Calif. (September 27, 2019) — 5.11 Tactical®, the world’s leading innovator of tactical apparel, footwear and outdoor gear, is proud to announce an expanded partnership with Ubisoft® for its upcoming release, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. In addition to once again giving players the opportunity to outfit their characters in 5.11 apparel and gear through in-game character customization options that impact game play, 5.11 has also partnered with Ubisoft on multiple custom content videos surrounding the Ghost Recon Breakpoint launch.

5.11’s 2016 product integration in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Wildlands initiated the connection between the worlds of gaming and real-life tactical experiences by providing gamers with the same 5.11 purpose-built products that are used by tactical professionals every day. 5.11 continued their partnership with Ubisoft in 2018 appearing in the video game Far Cry 5. Earlier this year, 5.11’s product integration in The Division 2 was the third time the two brands partnered together in that capacity and the first time the two brands created custom content utilizing 5.11 brand ambassador Tim Kennedy in The Real Endgame Weapons Of The Division 2. 5.11’s appearance in this Fall’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint marks the fourth collaboration effort between Ubisoft and 5.11 and an even more extensive content creation partnership between the two brands.

In addition to providing tactical apparel and gear for all four of the recently launched videos in the Ubisoft Squad Up video series featuring Lil Wayne directed by David Leitch, 5.11 debuted today its own series of videos called The Ghost Recon Breakpoint Challenge – utilizing four real special forces soldiers in scenarios that occur within the Ghost Recon Breakpoint video game. Lisa Master Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve, Mike Glover of Fieldcraft Survival and former 20-year Green Beret, Dan Edwards, retired 25-year special operations officer, and Lee Harvey, retired Major in the United States Army Special Forces round out the group of survivalists who put the reality of Ghost Recon Breakpoint to the test.

“The expansion of our partnership with Ubisoft and the Ghost Recon Series of games has been outstanding for the 5.11 brand,” said 5.11’s Chief Marketing Officer, Debra Radcliff. “The functionality of our purpose-built products is an authentic fit in Ghost Recon Breakpoint as one of the most realistic military video games of all time. Collaborating on the joint custom content projects has been a natural progression for the partnership and we’re excited to be releasing the videos we’ve worked on together.”

5.11’s innovative tactical apparel and gear designed for life’s most demanding missions provides added functionality to the players in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Players will have access to the highest levels of product innovation and tactical functionality through 5.11’s product offering, and just as in The Division 2, select 5.11 products will affect game play. In real world meets virtual reality, the better gear you’re carrying, the better you’re performing. The assortment of 5.11 products featured in Ghost Recon Breakpoint includes: RUSH12™ Backpack, RUSH24™ Backpack, RUSH72™ Backpack, All Hazards Backpack, Apex™ Pant, TacLite® Plate Carrier, AMP24™, Tac-Tec™ Plate Carrier, Expedition Long Sleeve Shirt, Ascension Long Sleeve Shirt, and a variety of accessories. To view and purchase the product available in the game, please visit 5.11Tactical.com.

“We’ve enjoyed expanding our partnership with 5.11 over the past few years,” said Adam Novickas, Vice President of Marketing at Ubisoft. “5.11’s gear is perfectly placed within Ghost Recon Breakpoint and their custom content partnership adds a level of authenticity to the game that we truly value.”

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse and hostile open world entirely playable solo or in up to four-player co-op. Players will discover Auroa, a mysterious island where the most technically advanced facilities meet wild and untamed nature. Home to drone creators, tech giant Skell Technology, Auroa has fallen into the wrong hands and all contact has been lost.

The Wolves, a lethal ex–US Military unit of former Ghosts gone rogue, have taken over the island. Led by Nomad’s ex-brother-in-arms, Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker, portrayed by Jon Bernthal, they have reprogrammed Skell’s drones into killing machines and are ready to use them, no matter the casualties. Nomad and the Ghosts are sent in on a recon mission, but their helicopters are shot down. Injured, without support, and hunted down, players will live an intense military experience as they fight to survive, take down the Wolves and regain control of Auroa.

Steep slopes, accumulating injuries, and fatigue are new challenges for players to tackle as they test their survival skills in the varied terrains of Auroa. To overcome adversity, players will enjoy total freedom to accomplish their missions and have plenty of tactical options and tools at their disposal, including a set of new military features. They will be able to carry enemies and teammates’ bodies, blend into their environment with prone camo and set up camp with teammates in the bivouac to manage equipment, change classes, and fine-tune their strategies.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is available for purchase on October 4, 2019. For more information on 5.11 and the latest updates on 5.11’s Ubisoft Ghost Recon Breakpoint partnership, please follow 5.11 @511Tactical.

Evil Dead 4k Restoration Limited Theatrical Event Schedule Revealed

Wednesday, September 25th, 2019

Grindhouse Releasing has revealed the initial round of dates for the Evil Dead 4k Restoration. As expected, it’s a mix of small arthouse theaters and conventions around North America, principally the US. Showings are scheduled through December, and are at a pretty wide variety of locations, so chances are decent you’ll be able to find a showing within a reasonable distance. What constitutes “reasonable” might depend on how much of an Evil Dead fan you are; luckily for me there are multiple showings extremely close by through October, and I’ve already got my ticket!

As a reminder, this is a 4k restoration of the original ‘Evil Dead’, with the restoration done from the original 16mm print – and in close collaboration with original director Sam Raimi. The release will also feature a brand new 5.1 surround sound mix, and a completely reimagined soundtrack by original composer Joseph LoDuca.

Activision/Infinity Ward Appropriates BCM/BPRE Promotional Imagery for Latest Call of Duty Release

Monday, September 23rd, 2019

Back in 2013, prior to the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts, a beta for the game featured a slightly-altered version of the Mil-Spec Monkey logo as an in-game player customization icon.

Needless to say, this was not an authorized use of that copyrighted material. And, it looks like Activision and Infinity Ward are at it again:

thumbnail

This is a loading screen for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

.300 Blk

And this is promotional imagery for BCM and BPRE. Strikingly similar, aren’t they?

For the curious, this image was featured in promotional materials for BCM’s line of .300 Blackout carbines, among other uses.

Not to excuse the use of this imagery, but it’s worth mentioning that the new Modern Warfare is currently in a pre-release state, and it’s possible that this is being used as placeholder art until the game launches later this year. Still, you’d figure that a big corporation like Activision would be a bit more cautious when it comes to potential intellectual property violations for their multi-billion dollar franchise.

The New Broco Rapid Deploy Ballistic Protection Sport Backpack Armor Plate Protection Available for Everyone — Now at Special Pre-Holiday Pricing

Saturday, September 21st, 2019

Broco Rankin

ONTARIO, Calif., Sept. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Armor plate protection is now available for everyone at pre-holiday promotional pricing. Broco, Inc.’s new Rapid Deploy Ballistic Protection Sport Backpack looks like an ordinary backpack except this one has two hidden body armor plates – one in the back and another that deploys in seconds to cover the front – to provide ballistic protection in case of an emergency.

The Broco Rapid Deploy Ballistic Protection Sport Backpack is designed for civilians, including teachers, students, parents, coaches, family and friends, as well as law enforcement and military. It is lightweight yet strong and deploys quickly. The removable soft armor plates are NIJ 0101.06 certified level IIIA (handgun) and weigh 1.1 lbs. each. Stronger hard armor plates that are NIJ certified level III (rifle) and weighing 3.3 lbs. each also are available for purchase.

Broco Rankin

“We wanted to deliver something new to the bulletproof backpack market that would benefit everyone,” said Richard Ferry, president of Broco Rankin. “The Broco backpack does that with two armor plates instead of just one. We made it lightweight and strong for everyday people based on our experience with the tactical tools and gear we provide to first responders.”

The rapid deploy feature is quick and easy. In the event of an emergency, pull the quick release cord on the shoulder strap to separate the two compartments and pull one over the head. The result is bulletproof protection over vital body parts on both front and back. The civilian model is available in blue, gray, maroon or black. The tactical model comes in tan or black with a molle system or laser cut, and can be ordered without the Broco logo for more discrete protection.

“We initially created the Rapid Deploy Backpack for our first responder and military customers. Then we decided that it was versatile enough to protect anyone in a public place,” concluded Ferry.

Galco Gunleather – Introducing The New StukOn-U Pocket Holster For Subcompact Autos

Wednesday, September 18th, 2019

Galco Gunleather is excited to introduce additional StukOn-U pocket holster fits for subcompact autos from Colt, Kahr, Kel-Tec, Kimber, Ruger, S&W, Taurus and others!

The StukOn-U builds on Galco’s decades of experience with pocket holsters. Its Gripper Shell™ exterior helps the holster grab the inside of the pocket, while the closed-cell foam substrate gives the holster shape and sturdiness. Finally, a layer of 420 denier packcloth lines the holster to both protect the handgun and smooth the draw.

The ambidextrous StukOn-U is designed for front pocket carry in pants or a jacket. It keeps the firearm in the same general position so the grip can be quickly located during draw, conceals the shape of the gun so that its outline is not printed through the pants, and allows one-handed release of gun from both pocket and holster, especially when using a “hooking” draw technique to catch the trigger-guard edge of the holster on the pocket as the handgun is released. The holster’s Gripper Shell surface assists in keeping the holster in the pocket during the draw.

The StukOn-U helps accomplish multiple concealed carry tasks with excellent discretion – and at the very reasonable retail price of $27!

Blast From The Past – The Arcus 3D-Printed Rubber Band Gatling Gun

Tuesday, September 17th, 2019

A few years back, I briefly mentioned The Arcus, A 3D-Printed Rubber Band Gatling Gun. Since the original video was taken down or otherwise made unavailable, I’d say it’s worth a revisit.

As the title states, The Arcus is a rubber band Gatling gun, made with 3D-printed components. It fits over the forearm and is capable of discharging 48 rubber bands in seconds. Impressively, the gun has no external firing mechanism, aside from the initial trigger pull, as it’s powered entirely by the energy from the rubber bands that it shoots.

What’s also impressive is the design: the Arcus requires no adhesive or fasteners to construct; all the parts snap together, and it can freely and repeatedly be taken apart and reassembled. The parts themselves are designed to be printed without any supports, and all fit on a 200mm x 200mm print bed.

So, if you have an appropriate 3D printer, or access to one, and are looking for a cool new project that involves the rapid discharge of projectiles, then you may want to give The Arcus a try.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions we’ve had regarding the magazine.

Is it reliable?

Yes! It should be noted that from the handmade prototypes we made in February and March, through the rounds of pre-production samples, to the final geometry we have today, we have never had a single failure to feed or eject. If the mag fit, it functioned, flawlessly.

What took so long?

While it always takes time to create tooling, what slowed us down is that to our knowledge, this magazine geometry has never been done before, so it took a little extra time for our magazine manufacturer to dial everything in.

Even small adjustments to a magazine design take time to change in tooling and test, and we were unwilling to compromise and release the magazine before it was ready. This is not just a range toy.

When will pre-orders ship?

We expect to begin shipping pre-orders in October; pre-orders will ship in the order they are received.

Do I need a metal mag catch since the magazine is made out of steel?

That depends on the shooter. We are offering an anodized aluminum mag catch for higher volume shooters who are concerned that the steel magazine will wear down the OEM polymer catch. It should be noted that our test guns have OEM mag catches, and we haven’t noticed any reliability issues yet. However, if you shoot enough, there is a possibility of accelerated wear on the catch, so if this is a concern, swap it out.

Fostech Echo Sport Trigger

Sunday, September 15th, 2019

Fostech’s Echo Sport is designed as a lower-cost alternative to those who want an Echo trigger for their AR, but want to spend a bit less money. Rather than activate the Echo mode from the selector, the Echo Sport features a selector paddle that sits within the trigger well. The shooters moves the paddle to the left for Echo mode, and to the right for semi-auto. And, as with the standard Echo, the Echo mode can be turned off by moving the paddle back to semi-auto mode when the trigger is depressed.

Project REsistance Gameplay Overview

Friday, September 13th, 2019

After the excellent Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and the well-received Resident Evil 2 remake, Capcom’s next entry in the extremely popular Resident Evil series is… a 4-player asymmetric co-op game. To be fair, it’s too early to really judge this one, but the footage shown so far isn’t looking particularly phenomenal. It honestly looks like a fairly generic co-op title, like Left 4 Dead with just a bit of Temco’s Deception thrown in as the Mastermind role.

Project REsistance is slated for a TBA launch, on Xbox One, PS4, and PC via Steam.

Halloween – ‘Target Practice’ T-Shirt

Tuesday, September 10th, 2019

This shirt, related to the ‘Halloween’ 2018 sequel/reboot film, features a pretty cool design of Michael Meyers/The Shape as a paper shooting target. The artwork was designed by Chris Bilheimer, and is printed on an olive drab 100% cotton t-shirt. Available in sizes X-Small – 2XL.

www.sacredbonesrecords.com/products/target-practice-t-shirt

It’s also available in pin form, for those who’s interest lies more in pins than t-shirts.

www.sacredbonesrecords.com/collections/john-carpenter/products/halloween-target-practice-enamel-pin

Of course, the real shame here is that the paper target itself is not available for purchase in an official capacity. Definitely looks like something Laurie Strode would have had hanging up in her backyard range in the recent film.

FLUX Defense – FLUX MP17

Monday, September 9th, 2019

FLUX Defense, creator of the FLUX Glock pistol brace, is expanding their product line with the introduction of the FLUX MP17. Available in both a pistol brace and stock-equipped SBR configuration, the MP17 is a chassis specifically for the SIG Sauer P320. The MP17 accepts the serialized Fire Control Unit and slide assembly from full-sized P320 variants, shifting from a traditional pistol design to one more reminiscent of a PDW.

FLUX MP17 from Flux Defense on Vimeo.

Features include a railed forend for the attachment of lights and/or lasers, an on-board spare mag carrier, QD mount for slings, and a fixed optic mount that is compatible with most micro red dot sights like the RMR or Deltapoint, which can also be outfitted with a Picatinny rail for the use of a larger electronic sight such as an Aimpoint or EoTech. FLEX Defense is also offering a Level 2 Retention holster specifically designed for use with the MP17, which is compatible with multiple styles of lights and even a mounted suppressor.

Intentional or not, the MP17 is actually pretty similar to the B&T USW-320. However, I kind of like FLUX’s take on the concept better, if mainly because of the fixed optic mount.

LEGO – Ultimate Collectors Series – Imperial Star Destroyer

Sunday, September 8th, 2019

LEGO will soon be releasing not just one of its largest Star Wars sets, but one of its largest sets yet released in general: the Imperial Star Destroyer ‘Devastator’ from the opening scene of Star Wars Episode 1: A New Hope. Consisting of almost 4800 pieces, this set is sized 14″ H x 43″ L x 26″ W fully constructed; 17″ high when set on its included display stand. It features swiveling guns, a tilting radar dish, huge engine exhausts, and intricate surface detailing. While it’s designed so that it can be picked up and handled, this is one by its very nature that’s designed to go straight into a display case.

Unfortunately, the included Minifigures are a bit limited: you get an Imperial Officer and Imperial Crewmember, each with their own pistol weapons. However, the set comes complete with a scale model of the rebel Tantive IV ship, and a TIE Fighter, both of which can be set within the docking bay, which is pretty cool.

Check out the video below to see LEGO Senior Designer Henrik Andersen go over the set and his process for designing it:

The Imperial Star Destroyer ‘Devastator’ set releases October 1st, or September 18th for LEGO VIP members.

Rebel Distillers – DOOM Bone Vodka

Saturday, September 7th, 2019

In celebration of the upcoming DOOM: Eternal, Bethesda Softworks has partnered with Europe-based Rebel Distillers to produce a licensed DOOM Bone Vodka. What makes it bone vodka, you may ask? Well, it’s a wheat-based vodka, which is further flavored with the addition of bone marrow. The marrow is extracted from roasted and smoked beef bones, which are sourced from UK-based The Ginger Pig, a butcher known for sourcing high welfare meat. Throw in the bottle, which is produced in France, and the labels which are produced in England, and you have a truly European spirit.

One that, unfortunately, is only seeing release in the UK, EU, and Australia. After the failure that was Nuka Dark Rum, it would be nice to see this one come stateside.

Anyway, for those of you who are in the intended market for this release, it’s £45 for a 700ml bottle, and can be ordered at the link below:

Action Wheels – 24 Volt Thunder Tank Ride-On

Thursday, September 5th, 2019

Thunder…Thunder…Thunder Tank, Ho!

This rideable tank from Action Wheels is seriously one of the coolest toys to come out in recent memory. Sized to fit up to two small children – it comes in at roughly 4 feet x 3 feet x 2 feet, with a recommended age range of 3+, and a total weight limit of 150 lbs, this Thunder Tank is powered by a 24 volt battery, and with two forward speeds and one reverse speed, can travel up to 5 MPH.

But it isn’t just for driving: it also has a manually rotating turret with working cannon, and a swivel machine gun with lights and sounds! The spring-loaded canon fires plastic shells, which are loaded by lifting a loading door on the barrel, and additional shells can be stored behind the driver on the rear end of the turret. Additionally, the Thunder Tank features red battle lights, authentic sounds that play from a speaker located on the turret seats, and ‘authentic’ design with decals throughout.

If you’re curious how it runs and sounds, check out some of the videos featuring it on YouTube; it’s seriously as cool as it sounds.
