Umarex’s ‘Legends’ consists of full-auto blowback action bb guns patterned after iconic weapons, or as Umarex’s marketing puts it, “Designs that changed history”. Two of the guns in this line caught my eye, the M712, and the MP, which is also new for 2017.
The M712 is patterned after the M712 “Schnellfeuer” or “Fast Fire” C96 Mauser, which was capable of full-auto fire and sported a detachable magazine. Umarex’s bb version follows suit, featuring full metal construction, full-auto or semi-auto fire, and an 18-round detachable magazine, which also houses the CO2 cartridge needed to power the gun’s action.
The MP is patterned after the iconic MP40, and like the M712 above, features full metal construction and select fire. The MP’s action is powered by two 12g CO2 capsules which are housed in the 60-round detachable magazine. The MP comes complete with a folding stock and adjustable rear sight with fixed front post.
Newington, NH (January 9, 2017) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is pleased to introduce the 1911 Spartan BB Pistol. Modeled after the 1911 Spartan centerfire pistol, this CO2-powered, semi-automatic 1911-style BB pistol features a unique bronze finish. The slide is engraved with the original Greek words ‘MOLON LABE’ which means ‘Come and Take Them’, and the grip is emblazoned with the Spartan helmet. This high-performance air pistol also features a full-metal slide and frame with realistic blowback action of the metal slide and a 16-round magazine which holds 4.5mm steel BBs. The 1911 Spartan BB Pistol also fits in current 1911 holster systems and has the same weight and controls of a traditional 1911 firearm, making it ideal for training.
“Training is a must for all shooters, regardless of skill level, and this new SIG SAUER 1911 Spartan BB Pistol is an effective training tool for beginners and experts alike,” said Joseph Huston, vice president and general manager of the SIG SAUER Airgun Division. “Our airguns are an inexpensive alternative to live-fire training for those who want to practice but can’t make it to the range as often as they would like, and the fact that the 1911 Spartan BB Pistol fits in a regular 1911 holster allows shooters to practice drawing in addition to accuracy. Shooting enthusiasts are really embracing SIG SAUER airguns as an additional method of training, and these airguns are also an excellent way to teach beginners firearm safety and how to shoot for the very first time.”
The 1911 Spartan BB Pistol has the same skeletonized trigger as its centerfire counterpart. There is also a cam lever CO2 loading port for easy and quick loading of the 12gr CO2 cartridges. The 1911 Spartan
BB Pistol shoots up to 410 fps; however, velocity results may vary depending on temperature and altitude.
Like the 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol, the 1911 Spartan BB Pistol gives newer shooters the ability to learn firearm safety and basic fundamentals in a controlled, comfortable, quiet, and safe environment. It removes the intimidation factor of the loud noise and recoil, leaving the newer shooter more confident and with a much better understanding of traditional firearms and their safe use.

Newington, NH (November 16, 2016) – SIG SAUER, Inc. is pleased to introduce the 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol. Modeled after the 1911 Max centerfire pistol designed by World Speed Shooting Champion and Team SIG Captain, Max Michel, Jr., this CO2-powered, semi-automatic 1911-style BB pistol is a fun and useful training tool for shooters of all skill levels – from beginners to experts.
“When it comes to shooting, consistent training is invaluable, whether you are a member of law enforcement, the military or are a responsible citizen carrying to protect your family,” said Max Michel, Jr., captain of Team SIG. “Despite this, many people don’t have the time, opportunity or finances to train as much as they should. The 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol gives you the flexibility to train anywhere, anytime with measurable results. Dry fire training is always recommended, but can be boring and sometimes misleading. This is a great way for those who typically shoot a 1911-style pistol to work on accuracy, speed and drawing from concealment.”
The 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol fits in current 1911 holster systems and has the same weight and controls of a traditional 1911 firearm. It features a full-metal slide and frame with realistic blowback action of the metal slide. The 16-round magazine holds 4.5mm steel BBs and the trigger has the same styling and shape as the 1911 Max firearm. There is also a cam lever CO2 loading port for easy and quick loading of the 12gr CO2 cartridges. The .177 caliber 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol shoots up to 410 fps; however, velocity results may vary depending on temperature and altitude.
The 1911 Max Michel BB Pistol also gives newer shooters the ability to learn firearm safety and basic fundamentals in a controlled, comfortable, quiet, and safe environment. It removes the intimidation factor of the loud bang and recoil, leaving the newer shooter more confident and with a much better understanding of traditional firearms and their safe use.
“I’m a 10-year Army veteran and have been a pro shooter for nearly 20 years, and I enjoy shooting this BB pistol because it’s just incredibly fun,” said Michel. “Regardless of your shooting ability, practice with this BB pistol is a really enjoyable and affordable way to improve your skills. I love shooting with my kids and this provides a platform for me to teach them safely while building their confidence. In the next few years as they continue to progress into more traditional firearms, they will be much better prepared because of the training they are receiving with the 1911 Max Michel BB pistol.”

In the same vein of that Tacticool C96 Mauser from a couple years back, someone (based on the grip texture and desert colorway likely the same someone as the C96) has done a similar job on an airsoft Luger P08. I love this one especially because the mini red dot is situated on the cocking mechanism. I also appreciate the integrated standoff spikes built into the frame, in front of the barrel.

Centurion MilSim Event Company is exactly what it’s name would imply, a MilSim event company, and it’s Veteran owned and operated. They have what they call their ‘ONE+ One’ program, which allows Veterans who participate in their events to bring a fellow Veteran along to one of the events at no additional cost (provided this the fellow Veteran’s first event within the company). All that’s required for the guest is to bring their own gear, and they’re in, no strings attached.

The AA-12 is a fully-automatic combat shotgun that, unfortunately, never really caught on with any conventional forces. However, as is the case with a lot of cool and rare firearms, there’s an airsoft version of the AA-12 readily available, and well-known airsoft manufacturer Tokyo Mauri produced it. The AA-12 features 3 cylinders and 3 barrels, with 10 rounds per second per barrel, for a total firepower of 30 rounds per second. It comes with a 90 round magazine, which it’ll chew through in seconds, but thankfully there’s also a 3000-round drum for sustained fire.
Images of US currency altered to make Alexander Hamilton, Ulysses S. Grant, and Benjamin Franklin into bonafide, pipehitting oper8ors have surfaced on the interwebz recently. They are the work of Sergiy Lysenko of Beserker Airsoft, who is clearly a very talented individual when it comes to defacing legal US tender.

The C96 Mauser is one of the most iconic pistols of all time, at least partially due to its inclusion in various forms of media, principally as the basis for Han Solo’s DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol. Available as a special collector package, the WE Classic Pistol comes with an extended box magazine and full-auto fire capability, making it modeled most after the M712 Schnellfeuer variant. Project Tank is a campaign being held for the benefit of Simon Jameson, an airsoft player living in Ireland. Simon suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystropy, and although this leaves him wheelchair bound, he has spent almost a decade playing airsoft. Simon love for the game is so great, he has even been granted the opportunity as the first disable person to participate in a MilSim game in a British Army MOD fibua city called Copehill Down; three times, in fact. The Project Tank campaign is an effort to seek the funding necessary for Simon to purchase a HexHog, an all-terrain wheelchair which will greatly aid in his overall mobility when playing airsoft and MilSim.

My friends over at the PTS booth had a lot of great stuff to show me, some of it already on the market, some of it new for 2016, but there was one product that caught my attention above all the others: the PTS Mega Arms MKM .308. Built around the Mega Arms MKM platform, the MKM .308 is based on a real steel .308/AR-10 rifle, and it shows. It’s not only a hefty beast of a gas blowback rifle, but the bolt itself is a monster; you can feel it slam forward with quite a bit of force for an airsoft rifle. Additionally, the MKM .308 will be capable of semi-auto and 3-round burst fire.
The magazine that comes with the MKM .308, the EPM LR, is a proprietary mag built to PTS’ own specifications just for this gun, and quite frankly, it’s heavy enough to cause extreme bodily harm if used as a blunt instrument.
The MKM .308 will be available later this year from PTS.
