Ignite Airsoft – BlackOps Line

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Ignite BlackOps is a line of professional grade airsoft guns and accessories. According to the tip giver, they’re comparable in quality to APS brand airsoft guns; sounds very promising. They’re also available at Walmart, so one shouldn’t have too much trouble grabbing one, if one were so inclined.

Crye Precision Plate Carrier (overview)

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

Check out this video from a dedicated MilSim Airsofter. It looks over all the standard features of the Crye Precision JPC. He says we’ll be some additional videos in the near future showing the different pouches and modular pieces mounted to it.

Koei Infantry Mask

Friday, March 30th, 2012

There’s a new style of Airsoft mask available to protect that pretty face. It looks pretty cool, if you’re going for the Man In The Iron Mask or Samurai look (or just have a dungeon fetish). I can definitely see this being something guys paint up in cammie patterns or something intimidating.

Now if they’d just make one that would provide true ballistic protection we’d be good to go. The Koei Tactical Infantry Face Shield comes in black or tan. It will fit most helmets and goggle styles and is rated to withstand up to 650fps bb impact at “standard distance” (whatever that is).

You can find the mask here.

More fun to look at, but possibly less effective.

5-Man CQB Competition in the UK

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

Via Strike-Hold

Pathfinder Group Military Simulations are holding this event at Sopley Camp, an old RAF Base near Bournemouth, Hampshire. The Event is co-sponsored by CQB Target Systems Ltd, Professional Target Solutions.

The event is based on Airsoft Military Simulation over 2 days, and is organized and run by Experienced Ex-Parachute Regiment. Weapons and Tactics instructors.  We also have a Special VIP SAS Author who is attending the event over the 2 days.

This is not to be confused with an airsoft skirmish event, as this is a serious Military Airsoft Simulation Exercise based on real Military tactics by the professionals, who have served in numerous conflicts throughout the world, so this really is an opportunity for Airsoft Teams to seriously compete at the highest level during the competition.

There are specific Blacked Out Kill House environments for the 5 Man Assault Teams, and each team should consist of 4 key Assault Personnel and 1 Designated Marksman, also included in the price is Accommodation on site at the base.

Teams applying to take part should have their own Airsoft Rifles, Handguns and ammunition for the event, and any associated Pyrotechnics they wish to use during the assault phases of the competition. Points will also be awarded for presentation etc.  There are Prizes for the Winning Teams which will be awarded on the Sunday by our VIP/Organizers.

Teams should apply to Pathfinder Group Military Simulations as soon as possible by contacting Roy at: Pathfinderuk1@aol.com

MSE’s Bushman: Commentary on a poser

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

There’s some new MilSim drama going around about a new poser in the industry. I thought I’d make a comment on it, only because I know a couple of the people at MSE (MilSim Event). The problem is that a supposed member of MilSim Event, callsign Bushman, said he was with either with the Rangers or Special Forces or both and apparently also claimed he was “deep cover” with the CIA and even told folks at SHOT Show that he was with Delta.

Yeah.

Operation Savior, from AEX

Friday, February 3rd, 2012
Help save a life with Airsoft Extreme. They’re sponsoring a special operation on February 18th for Michelle Smith.

AEX Skull smallMichelle is married to Matt Smith.  Matt Smith has been a long standing member of the airsoft community who has put forth an immense amount of work over the years, but has remained silent, humbly in the background doing work for the community that few have ever know, but all have seen. This Gentleman has created the very image of the airsoft community in the Bay Area (where AEX is headquarterded with a number of organizations that make the Bay Area airsoft community what it is today.  Matt Smith is a close friend of AEX and many others in the airsoft community.   He came to them with a need, a need that is not for him, but for his wife and a need that no one would want to face.  Michelle needs a heart and double lung transplant.

SHOT Show 2012: Winners of the Spartan Imports/Dalton Fury Raffle

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

As you may be aware, Spartan Imports ran a raffle at SHOT Show to raise money for Stand by the Wounded and to help promote Dalton Fury’s new Delta Force novel Black Site. Their booth had customized airsoft guns that replicated exactly what Dalton carried in the Battle of Tora Bora in Afghanistan, where he was the ground Delta Force commander – cool thing was, Dalton and some of his teammates turned up to sign the weapons! Anyway, they sold quite a few raffle tickets for those 5 advanced copies (Spartan Imports and Elite Defense thanks all who supported the effort) and Tactical Fanboy would like to congratulate the winners (among whom was the CEO of Tango Down).

Congratulations! Thanks for supporting a good cause. Now go order a copy of the book, cuz it’s pretty damn good.

Greatest MilSim Battlefields: SS Airsoft in Atlanta

Friday, January 13th, 2012

If you live anywhere near Atlanta, you might want to check out SS Airsoft’s indoor battlefield. It looks awesome. According to the news article we read, “SS Airsoft is a 14.000 ft² airsoft-dream. They offer you a unique field with light effects, fog and an unbelievable setting. Recently Brain from Echo1 visited this field and made a video that will provide you a great overview off the game area.”

Seriously, the attention to detail in this place is astounding.

This the video they’re talking about:

Practical Testing: MilSim Eye Safety

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Here are a couple pretty good videos on goggles, facemasks and eye safety for you MilSim shooters out there. Wearing eye-pro should be a no-brainer along the lines of “don’t get drunk and stick try to have sex with the garbage disposal while it’s on, or ever“, but we still see knuckleheads pushing their goggles up, removing their glasses or otherwise imperiling their vision. While this would seem to be a Darwinian situation that is self-correcting, people make mistakes, and we’d hate to see someone lose part or all of their vision to a simple screw-up or a moment of absent-mindedness. (TFB Knuckledragger, one of our other writers, tells us he met an AF Security Forces guy on Masirah Island right after 9/11 who was unable to pursue his dream of trying for the CCTs because he’d screwed up and taken a paintball to the eye. This isn’t to say his career in the AF wasn’t honorable or worthy of respect, but it wasn’t the dream he might very well have realized if not for one moment of lapsed judgment.)

Anyway, check it out. Do it safe.

Kill Cam: Now for MilSim & Real Steel

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Okay, it’s not really a “KillCam” like in your fps game, but the FLASHBACK option of Looxcie is pretty close. Looxcie is a video camera you wear on your ear like a bluetooth earpiece. You turn it on and it records everything in POV format from that perspective. You can stream it live (which might be pretty damn cool for military/LE training events, or for airsoft fights or whatever). You can store data in it, obviously, and also send clips to e-mail, social media, etc.

Check out the rest of the story on Soldier Systems Daily.

Epic Loadout on Kit Up!

Sunday, December 18th, 2011

Kit Up!, the gear blog over at Military.com (which is smart enough to occasionally feature op-ed and gear discussion by the Mad Duo) just ran a piece from Evike TV. Evike is a great airsoft (particularly MilSim) place with a good sense of humor.

Here’s a back view of the Evike doorkicker after he completes his epic loadout.

Airsoft GI TV: Left 4 Dead!

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Airsoft GI is making another movie, or so we hear. It’s their second film project, a Left 4 Dead “fan film” that looks anything but fan made. In fact, the trailer looks better than a lot of the craptastic movies out there ostensibly “professionally” made (not that craptastic is a bad thing, mind you; SyFy movies suck but are fun as hell to watch). They made it with Northern Five entertainment and Condor Outdoor. Their first one was pretty good, but the new one is sick. Beast. Whatever. Looks good.

MilSim Event Review of WT Tactical

Monday, December 5th, 2011

Some of the guys from MSE went out hunting for some piggies, doing some four-wheeling and basically just spending three days in the mountains proving that adage about men and boys and the price of their toys. Check it out. The actual reviewing is at about 3:20 and 6:16, but if you want to just feel bad that you didn’t get to go play and they did then watch the whole thing.

Voodoo Tactical’s “Matrix” Pack

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

MilSim Event (we reported on their upcoming Reindeer Games a while back) did a review of the Voodoo Matrix pack. Now, what’s interesting about this review is the guy doing the synopsis isn’t just a MilSim enthusiast. He’s a
