Rail-Mount Tactical Laser Lighting Systems Fit Long Guns, Deliver up to 1,000 Lumens

EAGLEVILLE, PA, January 21, 2021 – Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, introduced the TLR® RM 1 Laser and TLR® RM 2 Laser tactical lighting systems for long guns. Packaged as a system, each rail mounted light features independently operating push-button and remote pressure switches; the kit provides everything users need to mount to long guns. Also available in light-only models, the TLR RM 1 Laser and the TLR RM 2 Laser deliver 500 and 1,000 lumens, respectively.

“The TLR RM 1 and 2 Laser versions offer a precise red aiming laser for tactical and military users, along with a convenient mode select toggle switch,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah. “They also deliver a powerful beam with extensive range and solid, good peripheral coverage.”

The rail mount systems include an ergonomically friendly, multi-function tail switch, along with a remote switch input option. The remote switch is designed to exit the weapon at a 90º angle, improving wire routing to preserve rail space. The lights feature three modes: Laser only, LED illumination only or both, operated by the new side toggle switch. The facecap offers a ‘Safe off’ feature to prevent unintentional activation.

The new models are designed to quickly and securely attach to any long gun with a MIL Standard 1913 or NATO Rail, without the need for hands in front of the muzzle. The lights offer highly accurate sight repeatability when remounting. Each light includes a key kit to securely fit the light onto a broad array of weapons.

The lights each feature the latest in power LED technology, and include a custom TIR optic that produces a concentrated beam with optimum peripheral illumination. The TLR RM 1 Laser offers 500 lumens, 5,000 candela and a beam distance of 140 meters; the TLR RM 2 Laser provides 1,000 lumens and 10,000 candela with a 200-meter beam distance. The lights also include a selectable strobe feature.

The TLR RM 1 Laser includes one (1) 3 volt CR123A lithium battery, measures 3.2 inches in length and weighs 2.97 ounces. The TLR RM 2 Laser includes two (2) 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries, is 4.6 inches long and weighs 4.95 ounces. Both feature 1.5 hours of continuous run time and three hours on strobe.

IPX4-rated for water-resistant operation, the TLR RM 1 and TLR RM 2 Lasers are constructed with durable anodized machined aircraft aluminum with an impact-resistant Borofloat® glass lens.

Available in black, the TLR RM 1 and TLR RM 2 Laser Lighting Systems have MSRPs of $398.00 and $415.00, respectively. The TLR RM 1 and TLR RM 2 Laser Light-Only models have MSRPs of $360.00 and $378.00 respectively. Each comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Viridian Introduces World’s First Hand Stop Laser

Monday, August 3rd, 2020

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – August 1, 2020 – After six decades, the AR-15 is still America’s rifle. The platform’s popularity stems from its speed and ergonomics. Now the venerable rifle design is poised to be even faster and easier to control thanks to Viridian Weapon Technologies’ HS1™, the first and only hand stop with an integrated laser sighting device.

“The HS1 combines the functionality of an AR hand stop with the rapid target acquisition provided by a Viridian green laser,” said Brian Hedeen, President and CEO at Viridian. “The combination makes for a much more ergonomic rifle and cuts down on the attachments that add bulk to a gun’s foregrip.”

Viridian’s new hand stop offers increased control and faster target acquisition with a highly visible green laser that’s intuitively activated by the grip of the shooter’s support hand.

The HS1 uses M-Lok mounts to make installation easy. The laser is adjustable for windage and elevation. The HS1’s pressure pad activates the laser with a variety of support-hand grips, adding an added element of control and speeding up time to target.

This combination of speed and control makes the HS1 an ideal addition to any AR. MSRP for the Viridian HS1 is $179.

Features

  • M-Lok Mounts
  • Pressure Pad Activation
  • Daytime-visible Green Laser
  • Ergonomic Design for Pistols and Rifles
  • Single 1/3n battery
  • Adjustable for Windage and Elevation

The Hacksmith – Predator Thermal Vision Helmet

    Sunday, June 21st, 2020

YouTube Channel The Hacksmith created a thermal vision helmet inspired by the ones worn by the Predators/Yautja from the series of the same name. They accomplished this by utilizing several off-the-shelf camera and computer components, including a FLIR Lepton 3.5 thermal censor pulled from a FLIR ONE Pro thermal imaging camera, and mating them to a Zeiss Cinemizer headset, all mounted within a Predator-themed motorcycle helmet cover. However, they didn’t stop there, as they also utilized a Wicked Lasers LaserCube with a custom 3D-printed shoulder mount to replicate the Predator’s laser cannon. The end result is a working helmet that can switch between various vision modes, and a shoulder-mounted laser that projects a triangular reticle, and can pop balloons almost instantly; in short, it’s pretty damn cool.

Low-Profile Light Features Three Functions, Adjustable Eye-Safe IR Aiming Laser

EAGLEVILLE, PA, January 22, 2019 – Streamlight®, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, introduced the TLR-VIR® II, a lightweight, compact rail-mounted tactical light with a high intensity white LED, an integrated infrared (IR) LED illuminator, and Class 1 “Eye Safe” IR aiming laser with windage and elevation adjustment controls. The new light securely fits all long guns with MIL-STD-1913 rails and M17/M18 pistols.

The TLR-VIR II enables users to easily toggle easily between bright light and the IR illuminator/laser. This feature allows military and law enforcement personnel to remain in a proper firing position when making the transition from IR mode to white light, and vice versa. The light features a three-position mode rear selector switch, including IR illumination/IR laser, Safe Off (to prevent accidental turn-on), and visible illumination, that enables users to keep hands away from the muzzle during mode selection.

“The TLR-VIR II gives soldiers and first responders the ultimate in tactical lighting flexibility,” said Streamlight President Ray Sharrah. “With its high intensity white light and a long-running IR illuminator and Eye Safe IR laser for optimizing night vision, it’s an essential tool for those deploying with weapon lights.”

The new light, which is powered by a single CR123A lithium battery, uses the latest in LED technology for ultra-bright visible light, providing 5,000 candela, 300 lumens and a 1.5 hour run time. For IR lighting, the TLR-VIR II uses an 850-nanometer LED emitter with 600mW/sr radiant intensity, providing optimum illumination when using night vision equipment; it delivers a run time of 12 hours. Its IR aiming laser has fully adjustable windage and elevation settings.

The TLR-VIR II has an ambidextrous momentary/steady on-off switch. Like other TLR® models, the light has a rail clamp that can be easily attached and tightened with one hand, without the use of tools. The IR illumination/laser mode selection also features a tactile indicator on the light housing for switching modes with ease.

The TLR-VIR II is constructed from machined aircraft aluminum, with a coyote anodized finish body and a high-impact, chemically resistant polymer black switch housing.
The compact light weighs only 3.82 ounces and measures 3.30 inches long and 1.40 inches high. It uses a high temperature, shock-mounted, impact-resistant Borofloat glass lens. It is available in Coyote or Black.

Featuring extensively live-fire tested construction, the TLR-VIR II has an IPX7 rated design for waterproof operation to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It has an MSRP of $600.00.
