Monday, September 3rd, 2012

‘Tilt-Shift Vol. 1: The Quite Profession’ is a graphic novel written by Jose Torres-Cooban with art by Joshua Hood. The 12-issue series details a first-hand account of the actions of Team Galahad through the eyes of combat photographer Specialist Freddie Blythe. The purpose of the series is to shift perspective on the Global War On Terror to those fighting on the front lines and promises to be the closest thing to the full Special Operations experience found in any medium, being written by actual Special Operations combat veterans.

Hardcore Hardware Australia

Friday, April 8th, 2011

From a land down under comes Hardcore Hardware’s new Tomahawk. Crafted from coated D2 tool steel, the handle is wrapped in 550 cord and comes with a nylon MOLLE compatible sheath. This is brand new on the market and looks to be built with a severe dosage of arse-kickery involved.

OSU Buckeyes to Don Camo Helmets

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

The Ohio State University football squad will be sporting Pixelated Camouflage helmets in their upcoming April 23 home game to honor the US military. After that, half will go back to their normal color Silver scheme, while some will be autographed by Jim Tressel and sold, with all the proceeds going to benefit the Ohio National Guard Family Readiness and Warrior Support Program, LiFE (Learning in Fitness & Education) through Sports Program and the Ruth and Jesse Owens Scholars Fund.

With their orange scarlet stripe down the middle, ya gotta admit, they look kind of like an Air Force guy wearing a disco belt.

Freedom Hunters

Sunday, March 27th, 2011

We ran across a cool organization called Freedom Hunters this weekend at Bass Pro Shop in Hampton, VA. Bass Pro Shop always has a lot going on during the weekend such as clinics, special sales, celebrity visits and contests.

Freedom Hunters offers the opportunity for military personnel and in particular, wounded veterans to participate in hunting and fishing by partnering with individuals, corporations and land owners to facilitate equipment, transportation, access and most of all companion and mentorship. It’s a great way to offer our nation’s heroes a way to enjoy the outdoors.

Please check out their website to learn more or to donate. www.freedomhunters.org

Digital Camo Goes a Bit Too Far

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Sure, protesters and bandits use black ski masks to in order to hide their identities, but this new Pixelhead mask is intended by its creator, Martin Backes to serve as “media camouflage” for those weary of finding themselves on Google Streetview and Facebook. This model features two eye slits and is printed in a pixelated image of German Secretary of the Interior Defense Minister Thomas de Maizière.

Fanboy note: Anon will be most pleased.

SSD After Dark – Major Fox Keeps Your Riser Up

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Well it’s dark somewhere. Ever had trouble keep it up? Your stock’s cheek riser, that is. Recently, we published an article about Victor Company’s Accu-Stack Comb Risers. While we think we did a pretty good job of explaining what they do, Victor Company produced this commercial to show the benefits of their Accu-Stack Comb Risers and it will probably be the best thing you see, all day (or night). Despite our tagline it is safe for work.

Civilian Class I Lasers Now Available from TNVC

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Some very exciting news from Tactical Night Vision Company. They are now selling Class1 Infrared Lasers for Civilians. Laser Devices, Inc (LDI) has begun manufacturing Class1 (eye safe) IR lasers for commercial sale and TNVC, a distributor for LDI, is now stocking these units. Class1 lasers are 0.07mW, providing a precise weapon-mounted aiming solution out to 75-100 yards. These are the first true, IR lasers available for commercial sale and this is the first time civilians can purchase them. Standard power IR lasers (class IIIb) are restricted to government purchase by the FDA. These units are built using LDI’s legacy Milspec body housings which are precision machined aerospace grade aluminum with a Mil-Spec surface anodizing. They have been proven on the battlefield and will stand up to harsh recoil and field abuse. Class1 lasers are available in four variants:

DBLA-I² – Class1 IR laser/ Class IIIa Visible Laser (red or green)

ITAL – Class1 IR Laser

Just a little something cool that isn’t available to the general public, so you’ll have to be content with this photo. And no, constantly harassing Surefire won’t net you one, so don’t even try. 😉
