Bob’s at it again

Friday, March 16th, 2012

This guy is almost clever enough to make us believe he’s been hangin’ around with us. Not quite, but close. UTR previousl reported that Bob Riggle was doing some bad ass spokesmanning (we just made that up, deal with it). He’s actually done more than one Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 video. Here’s another. Yeah, i’s been a while and maybe you’ve seen it. So f-in what? Watch it again.

Tactical Fanboy: A Resounding Call for Call of Duty Elite

Now, did you know he was the guy who killed Bin Laden? You should. That’s a pretty significant achievement.

How do you get this party started? Elite!

How do you kick more ass? Elite!

How do you get more UUUHH? Elite!

How do you get more swagger in your wager? Elite!

How do you piss off a terrorist? Elite!

How do you break up withy our fiancée? Elite!

How do you disappoint your mom? Elite!

How do you confuse your dad? Elite!

What rhymes with dead meat? Elite!

Wanna learn more about Bob Riggle, or just drop him a line and tell him he oughta do an interview with the Swingin’ Dick Kilgore and Slim? Check out his website. Riggle’s a Light Colonel, USMC, who served in Liberia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He earned the Combat Action Ribbon and has several unconfirmed hippie kills. He wants to chill with us, he just don’t know it yet.

One other thing: we’ve told those of you who aren’t hippies, sissies, fans of Olberman or horny for Joy Behar to join us on Facebook (especially if you pull a trigger for a living). Some of you haven’t done so yet. That’s your prerogative, but here’s some food for thought. We saw this assclown stealing from a blue-hair in a Korean War hat last week, and read his tattoo.

You can see what we thought of it. Wanna reconsider your reluctance to join us? (Notice we used a cheap knife and not one of the ones Darrel Ralph made us. See, we’re like walking metaphors for smart badassery. Living icons of the thinking man’s slaughter…and nearly as humble as we are good looking.)

More to follow. We’re off to help Ron Jeremy and Jack Murphy with a how-to video (separate videos, in case you’re worried, not all at once).

New MilSpec Monkey Hat is live!

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

Need a new hat? Want a new hat even if you don’t need it? The new MilSpec Monkey mesh variant GG-Hat is now live on the MSM store. It’s built to shed heat for “desert dwellers” or those of you who are slowly cooked in the humidity of summer along the third coast. The foundation is a FlexFit cap with the top rivet removed and hook-and-loop sewn on.

Tactical Fanboy: the new MSM cap.

The front panel is approx 4″ x 3″ and the rear is 3″ x 3″ with a 5.5″ x 1″ strip at the bottom for name tapes. There is even a 2″ x 2″ diamond up top for those of you who are so high speed low drag and important you need IR tabs. The Monkey mentions it in the description, but we’ll reiterate it: this design gives good functionality without looking like you’re wearing a Velcro wig. There is a lanyard attachment point on the bottom too, should you need it for whatever reason. Pay attention to the sizing details.

It is our contention that all new SOF characters in the next Modern Warfare and Battlefield incarnations should wear these (and maybe use some RAMPS: more on that later).

Holographic Hybrid Sights Offered by EOTech

Monday, January 9th, 2012

You know the EOtech sights you’re using in MW3? (They’re the “Holographic Hybrid Sights, or HHS kits.) You can, of course, get them in real life, and you can get extended range from their G33 magnifier. The HHS with G33 will, according to EOTech, allow accurate shooting from 0 to 500 meters, using the G33 “Quick Switch to Side” magnifier mount.

There are two kinds of kits. One (the HHS1) is for use with nightvision (EXPS3-4 HWS) and has a 4 dot reticle for shooting 0-300, 400, 500 and 600m. The other one (HHS2) has a non NVG compatible sight with 2 dot reticle for CQB “fast action” targeting.

Both come with a quick detach base that’s designed to return the optic to zero after mounting it back to the same rail location (to within 2 MOA). Both have operating buttons on the side, so you can use it with other rail mounted furniture.

They’ll be available this Spring and will run $1,000 to $1,225.  You can check out more on the EOTech website.

Sandman: Modern Warfare 3

Friday, January 6th, 2012

We can neither confirm nor deny whether Dalton Fury based the Modern Warfare 3 Sandman character on Richard “Swingin’ Dick” Kilgore, though no one who knows them both can deny that William Fichtner sounds a lot like Swingin’ Dick. (Fichtner was the voice of Sandman in the game, if you didn’t know.)

Games, like movies, have some great one-liners and scenes. Just to satisfy TFB’s curiosity, what are your favorites from MW3?

Sandman, from Modern Warfare 3

Sandman, from Modern Warfare 3. Many people aren't aware that he was actually on leave and playing quarters with cheap beer alongside Richard Kilgore the night before he was tasked with Operation Kingfisher.

So anyway, there’s like 40,000+ lines in the game. Any of them seem particularly cool to you?

Kolt Kit Bag Giveaway II

Saturday, November 26th, 2011

As you may recall from previous posts, author Dalton Fury has a novel coming out in January.  He did a pretty awesome swag giveaway for Thanksgiving…now he’s doing one for New Year’s. Yesterday’s was $1200 worth of kit that Delta operator Kolt “Racer” Raynor (the protagonist of Black Site) runs with in the book.  Much of the kit was provided by Uber Group and Black Palm Syndicate. Apparently the new prize is still under construction (or classified) so they have released details, but you can probably expect with a high degree of confidence that it will be damn cool. As before you, you need to preorder the book and then post the book vendor you used, date of purchase, etc. on the contest facebook page.  (Note: if you entered the ARC Drawing or first Kolt Kit Bag Giveaway you are auto-entered in the New Year’s Eve drawing; buying another copy will increase your chances.) Though a large number of people were invited to the contest, the Facebook rules apparently didn’t allow for as many as DF (who by the way was an adviser for Modern Warfare 3) would have liked, so he’s asking everyone to spread the word.

Check it out. If you happen to register, let ’em know Tactical Fanboy sent ya, would you?

Oh, and by the way: have you seen this interview?

Modern Warfare 3 Breaking Sales Records

Sunday, November 13th, 2011

Despite widespread conversation that the new Battlefield 3 was superior to the new Modern Warfare 3 (this isn’t to open up an argument, just going with the preponderance of input we’ve received), Activision Publishing announced on Friday that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has set an all-time sales record. How much? An estimated 6.5 million copies sold in North America and the United Kingdom alone. It also registered more than $400 million in sales. This is the third consecutive day-one launch record for the company, following the releases of Call of Duty: Black Ops ($360 million) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 ($310 million). Read on for more.

Metal Team: MW3’s Delta Assaulters

Monday, November 7th, 2011

Grinch, Truck, Frost and Sandman. According to Dalton Fury (who should know), the beepers have gone off again. Modern Warfare 3’s Delta Assaulters this time around are Metal Team. Stand by for further as it becomes available. (If you haven’t checked out the new Black Site book by DF, you prob’ly oughta.)
