Tachyon: A Weapon Mounted Computer For Airsoft

Tachyon is a seriously cool project up for funding on Indiegogo. A creation of Martin Hrehor of Košice, Slovakia, Tachyon is a weapon-mounted computer designed for use with airsoft rifles. Taking cues from Sci-Fi weapons, such as the MA5 series rifles from Halo and the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens, the Tachyon is able to display a programmable, active ammunition count, which is represented both as a numeric and graphical counter, which tracks shots via an infrared sensor mounted to the barrel. The Tachyon also has an adjustable brightness setting, clock, and battery monitor. Additionally, Tachyon mounts onto a Picatinny rail assembly, and had its own top-mounted rail, for attaching an optic.

At the time of writing, the initial run of 24 units were already claimed, so only non-reward contributions can be made at this time. Still, if all goes well with the project, it’s rather likely we’ll see more of the Tachyon later on.
